Jordie Lane: He's With The Band

Singer/ songwriter Jordie Lane says Brisbane better “bring it” when he arrives with a bigger and bolder sound for his current single tour.

2012 has been a landmark year for Jordie. He played a series of high profile shows in North America, starred in the Australian premiere of theatre production ‘Grievous Angel: The Legend Of Gram Parsons’, and started recording his third album in LA.
Barely returned from his previous tour of the UK with Billy Bragg, Jordie has launched straight into a 15-date national tour to promote new single, ‘Fool For Love’.

“The getting up in the morning, getting on the plane, doing all the interviews, it does feel like work but once I actually get on stage it’s finally where I can relax, in a weird way,” the bluesy folk artist explains.

“I put a lot of energy into my stage show but it’s certainly that moment where I don’t have to be anywhere else for two hours or so. I can just be right there, present on stage, so that’s the reward at the end of the day.”

For his third studio album, due for release early next year, Jordie enlisted Grammy Award winning producer Tom Biller (Kayne West, Beck) and legendary session drummer Matt Chamberlain (Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie).

“I saw Matt on drums with a band he’d never played with before. They were doing double drummers and he managed to play exactly what the other drummer was playing, just by feel.

“I thought that was incredible when he suggested to record on these couple of tracks with me. He has this intuitive way of knowing where the songs were going next even before they were fully written.”

Jordie constantly aims to keep things contemporary and progressive, changing the pace of his current tour with the addition of his five-piece band.

“This will be the first time in ages that I’ve brought a full band out. My solo shows are very energetic in terms of my crowd interaction and raving stories in between songs. With the band, the shows are a bit more about rocking out. I still have my little acoustic folk songs but there’s just going to be more power in the overall sound.”
